What Helped Me Most This Week
It's writing!
I’m trying to do something creative every day. I’m documenting it here.
This week, I noodled around on what I’m thinking of as ‘cult novel,’ started Dune: Messiah by Frank Herbert, and listened to the latest episode of Was I In a Cult? Of those things, the one that helped me the most is actually something I forgot to post about on my blog yesterday: I’ve started a ‘micro writing’ practice.
I got the idea for this from Writer-ish, but (as I’m sure she’d intend) I’ve tweaked it a tad to better fit how my writing practice works. I’m lucky enough to be in a really good place writing-wise, so I’m trying to write a new story (less than 300 words) everyday until I get tired of it, then I’ll aim for 3 times a week. I used to love writing flash fiction, and I’ve been having such a hard time trying to write a short story, so it feels really good to dip back into a shorter form. I’m using this poetry prompt generator to give me ideas, and so far what I’ve produced has been very weird and horror-esque. It’s been a lot of fun to write!

So, that’s what actually helped my creativity, and also helped me generally, the most this week.
Love and gratitude, as always.
