What Helped Me Most This Week
It's writing!
I’m trying to do something creative every day. I’m documenting it here.
This week, I started work on what might be a new novel, began reading a new book, watched Severance, worked on editing my novel, and watched Whatever Happened to Baby Jane? Of all of that, the thing that definitely has me feeling the most creative and excited is starting on what might be a new novel.
Since finishing the first draft of Forgotten Holler, I’ve been trying to start on a new novel. I had two ideas I was playing around with before I settled on Forgotten Holler, but for whatever reason, I haven’t been able to get back into them. I followed my curiosity (thanks, Elizabeth Gilbert!) to cults, and finally settled on something that I think could maybe, possibly, be a new book. It’s all still in a journal, currently, and I’m working on it very slowly—I’ve realized that’s maybe the best way for me to get into a new work, by spending a lot of time in the beginning trying to nail down the voice. I sincerely think this might be something.
So, that’s what actually helped my creativity, and also helped me generally, the most this week.
Love and gratitude, as always.
